The exhibition is made up of 93 engravings from the 18th and 19th century which belong to Joan Francesc Mira’s collection. The drawings offer a European view of other cultures, through scenes from everyday life, customs or clothing, among others. La cara de los otros displays the exotic ideas that were generated by European travellers on their journeys to Asia, America and Africa during the 18th and 19th centuries, which are captured in Mira's collection of engravings.

In the words of Joan F. Mira himself, "This is a fascinating story: the story of how they constructed the face and image of the ‘others’, at a time when they had no machines to instantaneously portray them. Who knows what fantasies our great-grandparents projected in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is not always the ‘good savage’ or the ‘brutal savage’ who is portrayed: sometimes it is just ‘we ourselves’, with the other’s face”.
