Dieuzaide was already a renowned photographer when, in 1951, he received his first assignment abroad, which brought him to Valencia. Here, he observed the survival of a way of life, customs, traditions, a way of conceiving the world which had little to do with the moment that Western Europe was experiencing.

That is how he became interested in recording what no longer existed in his country. What was now before his eyes was a past that was only present here: a rural society that seemed to transport him to the old pre-industrial world. Through the photos, we will explore the ways of life of Valencian society between 1951 and 1971 to discover what life was like, what people did and how they lived. Thus, we will be able to get to know and reflect on our recent past, to better understand the present and contribute to the construction of our future.
